The Atlantic Community School District worked closely with Design Alliance to assess facility conditions, prioritize needs, and identify three potential projects. Design work is underway on the first of these projects—a middle school renovation.

This project involved a complicated, $22.4 Million, 8-phase renovation and addition to the largest high school in the state. A new commons and instrumental suite was added to connect and clarify the circulation within an historic building that had many additions previously. An entirely new heat pump system and electrical system was fitted into the existing building. Elevators were added to make the entire building accessible.

Following consideration of several options and a community referendum, Design Alliance accomplished a new high school addition for Lamoni. The building included a new classroom wing, 1,000 seat gymnasium, locker rooms, student commons and kitchen.

The East Marshall Community School District had been unable to pass a successful referendum after several tries. Design Alliance prepared a six phase plan to improve District Facilities and worked with a citizen’s committee to provide accurate information for a successful referendum passage. The resulting $5.6 Million project provided a new commons and kitchen, new vocal and instrumental music rooms, 1,000 seat gymnasium, locker rooms, and technical education classroom adjacent to the existing high school.

This was the forth Renovation/Addition project to be accomplished for the Des Moines School District. The $5.1 Million project involved remodeling of the existing 1940’s vintage building, a new gymnasium addition, and conversion of the old gymnasium to a library. The building was outfitted with a new ground coupled heat pump system.

The existing K-12 facility gained an addition which houses a media center, practice gymnasium, locker rooms, and a public library.

The addition to this K-5 facility provided a media center, room for food service operations, and restrooms.

The locker rooms, art room, music, and faculty and conference room underwent renovations. The school also acquired space for classrooms, restrooms, an administration room, faculty room, community resource room, and wrestling room.

A 10,000-sq. ft. addition allowed for a commons, restrooms, classrooms, and food service operations, while a renovation revived and seamlessly blended with the existing 112,000-sq. ft. facility.
Cost: $5.1 million

A renovation updated this school’s existing 85,000 sq. ft. facility. The 10,000 sq. ft. addition houses a new gymnasium, commons, restrooms and food service operations.
Cost: $4.04 million

A new elementary/middle school was added to the high school facility. The addition included an administration office, media center, music, art, classrooms, restrooms, and a renovation of the existing food service operations.

Cost: $4.5 million

Cost: 3.77 million, $59.33/sq. ft. (budget was $3.9 million)

The addition of six classrooms, a multipurpose room, gymnasium, locker rooms, restrooms and full-preparation kitchen revived this school.

We designed an elevator and media center addition to refresh the high school.

To accommodate athletic activity, the high school gained a new gymnasium and locker rooms.
