This was a significant project for the State of Iowa and Design Alliance. The former Records and Property Building just southwest of the State Capitol Building was converted into the headquarters for the Iowa State Patrol, Division of Criminal Investigation, Fire Marshall’s Office, Narcotics Enforcement, Commissioner’s Office, and other supporting entities of the Department. This $18 million project involved totally remodeling the 66,000-square foot building and adding 33,000 square feet. The project will be LEED Certified.

The client had outgrown their older maintenance facility. Design Alliance designed a new facility, located just east of Interstate 35, to house administrative, maintenance, vehicle storage, and equipment storage spaces.

The fifth project accomplished for this State Agency involved a $4.5M complete HVAC system retrofit and comprehensive remodeling of the third and fourth floors. The 1913 building has now been entirely renovated by Design Alliance over the past 15 years.

This is the first project to result from a comprehensive, multi-site study of Waverly’s public works and recycling facilities. The 7,000 SF, $778,000 facility is located on Waverly’s northwest side and was designed to integrate with its commercial surroundings.

Story City and Mary Greeley Medical Center formed a unique alliance to create an addition to a former hospital building. The addition provides a gymnasium, walking/running track, fitness and training spaces and locker rooms. The total cost was about $2.3M for 18,000 SF

The project involved a new 2-story public library for the City of Adel. This was located on the same site as and designed to be compatible with the recently remodeled Adel City Hall.

A multi-age arts and recreation complex for the Osceola area, this facility will feature baseball and soccer fields as well as a building with a game room, multipurpose space, art classroom, gymnasium, racquetball courts, and swimming pool.

This new, pre-engineered metal building for the City Street, Utility, and Transit Departments houses offices, a training room, a mechanic shop, toilets, vehicle storage, and a wash bay.
Size: 65,000 square feet.
Cost: $3.4 million.

We designed a new maintenance garage for the Dallas County Road Department that includes offices, a conference room, training room, toilets, eight bays for mechanical/maintenance and fabrication, 16 bays for vehicle storage, and an automatic wash bay.
Size: 30,000 sq. feet.
Cost: $2.3 million

This renovation transformed the existing three-story building into City Administration offices and council chambers for the City of Adel. An elevator and handicap-accessible restrooms were also incorporated.
Size: 9,100 square feet.

This project resulted in a 15,000 sq. ft. storage facility for 24 paratransit buses, 2,000 sq. ft. general maintenance facility, and 1,000 sq. ft. wellness facility.

The new public safety facility contains a five-bay apparatus room, support spaces, and room for the police department.

With a size of 20,000 sq. ft., this new USPS processing facility includes a workroom, offices, restrooms, and a mail platform/dock.

Located in the Drake neighborhood, this new facility contains 28,000 sq. ft. of space.

Housed in a glass-domed area with a 75-foot radius, this multilevel exhibit room also has an additional 12,000 sq. ft. greenhouse and a classroom/teaching greenhouse.
